Dr. Terror's House of Horrors
The film that invented the Amicus anthology, dealt out as tarot on a train.
The one that started the whole Amicus omnibus racket, and set the template every British anthology after it would follow. Five strangers share a train compartment with Peter Cushing's Dr Schreck (German for terror, in case the fog was too subtle), who deals each of them a tarot hand foretelling a nasty end: a werewolf, a creeping man-eating vine, a voodoo curse on a jazzman, a severed hand out for Christopher Lee, and a vampire. Some segments land and some are filler, which is the anthology bargain and always will be. Freddie Francis directs with more polish than the budget deserved, the cast is stacked (a young Donald Sutherland among them), and the whole thing moves. Slighter than the Amicus films that came after it, and the reason there were any.

Not a Santo film. A forked-tongue demon eating brains with a spoon.

Requiem for a Vampire
Rollin at his purest. Two women in clown costume, a castle, almost no dialogue.
