High School Confidential
An undercover cop infiltrates a high school drug ring. Reefer, hot rods and Jerry Lee Lewis.
The definitive juvenile-delinquent exploitation picture, in which an undercover narcotics officer poses as a transfer student to bust a high school marijuana-and-heroin ring. It opens with Jerry Lee Lewis performing the title song from the back of a truck and never quite calms down.
It is lurid, moralising and completely of its moment, selling teenage vice to the teenagers it pretends to warn. Russ Tamblyn and Mamie Van Doren star. The gap between its panic and its obvious enjoyment of the material is the whole appeal.
