Zombi 2

A zombie fights a shark. Fulci's splinter shot is still the worst thing here.

Sold in Italy as a sequel to Romero's Dawn of the Dead (released there as Zombi), despite having nothing to do with it. Fulci sends a boat to a Caribbean island where the dead are rising, and delivers two scenes nobody forgets: a zombie fighting a live shark underwater, and a splinter going into an eye in unbearable close-up.

The plot is a formality. What you are here for is atmosphere, rot, and Fabio Frizzi's score, all of which Fulci delivers in bulk.

On the DPP video nasty list, prosecuted, and better than it has any right to be.

Revenge via Haitian zombies. The best of the blaxploitation horror crossovers.
