Corman in Argentina. The genuine article, for better and worse.
Roger Corman produced this in Argentina, and it is the genuine article: a muscled barbarian quests for magic talismans through a world of sorcerers, monsters and abundant nudity. It is cheap, crude and exactly what the Conan-inspired boom was churning out, delivered with no pretension whatsoever.
The sword-and-sorcery formula is present in full, and the film's total lack of shame is part of its appeal. It spawned several sequels, none better and none worse in any way that matters.
Bottom-shelf barbarian fantasy, honest about exactly what it is.
