A Canadian slasher riding the Halloween wave, casting Jamie Lee Curtis as a high schooler stalked at her prom by a masked killer avenging a child's accidental death years earlier. It takes its time, leans on atmosphere over gore, and, memorably, stops for an extended disco dance sequence.
It is more restrained than its reputation suggests, closer to a mystery than a splatter film, and Curtis lends it credibility. One of the more respectable early slashers, and a solid example of the tax-shelter boom in Canadian horror.
