Return of the Evil Dead

The best of the four Blind Dead films. The eyeless Templar corpses rise on the anniversary of their execution and besiege an entire village during a festival, trapping the survivors in a church as the dead close in slow motion outside.

Amando de Ossorio expands the scale from the first film's isolated horror to a full siege, and the sound design (the hoofbeats, the creaking) does as much as the visuals. The Templars remain the best monster design of the decade.
