Sabata

A lighter, gimmick-driven spaghetti western in which a mysterious gunfighter with a multi-barrelled trick gun and a crew of acrobats uncovers and blackmails the respectable men behind a bank robbery. Lee Van Cleef plays Sabata with an amused, unflappable cool, and the film leans into stunts and gadgets over grit.

It is closer to a caper than a revenge tragedy, and it spawned a small series. Gianfranco Parolini directs the acrobatic set pieces with real flair. Not the cycle's deepest film, but one of its most entertaining.
