The Man Who Saves the World

Better known as Turkish Star Wars, and the definitive example of what Yeşilçam did when it wanted a blockbuster and had no money.

Two pilots crash on a desert planet and fight a wizard. The space battles are footage lifted straight out of Star Wars, optically printed in behind the actors. The score is stolen from Raiders of the Lost Ark, Ben-Hur, Moonraker and Battlestar Galactica, sometimes within the same scene. The fight choreography is enthusiastic trampoline work. The hero punches a rock in half.

It is fun without irony, which most so-bad-it's-good films are not, because everyone on screen is committing completely and the pace never drops. Surviving prints are terrible; there is no good copy and there never will be.
