The Nude Vampire

A secret society, a Paris chateau, and dream logic all the way down.

Early Rollin, and one of his more plotted films, which is not saying much. A young man becomes obsessed with a mysterious woman held by a secret society conducting strange experiments, and the film unfolds as pop-art occult mystery in bright, artificial colour.

The masks, the modernist interiors and the dream logic mark it as Rollin working out his obsessions, closer to a fashion shoot than a horror film. It is stranger and more stylised than frightening.

An acquired taste, and an early key to one of exploitation's true originals.
