An AIP tour of Haight-Ashbury at the height of the flower-power moment, following a young deaf runaway searching for her lost brother through a world of bands, bad trips and communal crash pads. Jack Nicholson stars as a ponytailed musician, and the film treats the scene as both exotic spectacle and cautionary tale.
It is a time capsule of 1968 San Francisco shot while the moment was still happening, complete with real psychedelic bands. Dean Stockwell and Bruce Dern co-star. More interesting as a document than as drama.
