The Trip

Corman stages an LSD experience with every optical trick he had. Written by Jack Nicholson.

Roger Corman's attempt to put an acid trip on screen, written by Jack Nicholson and starring Peter Fonda as a TV-commercial director who takes LSD and experiences the whole psychedelic light show. Corman reportedly dropped acid himself to research it.

It is less a story than a sustained sensory sequence, all strobing colour, body paint and fractured montage, and it captures the moment the counterculture and the exploitation industry discovered each other. Bruce Dern and Dennis Hopper co-star. A period document as much as a film.
