The cemetery sequence is the best three minutes in the genre.

The third and best of Leone's dollars films, and the one that turns the spaghetti western into opera. Three men chase buried gold across a Civil War that neither side is winning, and Leone stretches the tension until the extreme close-up becomes its own genre.

The final three-way standoff in the cemetery, cut to Morricone's score, is the most imitated sequence in the form and still the best. Eli Wallach's Tuco is the actual lead and the best thing in it.

Long, and every minute earns its place.
