TNT Jackson

Cirio Santiago's Manila blaxploitation at full tilt, remembered for one fight staged in the dark.

Jeanne Bell plays a martial artist who touches down in Hong Kong hunting the men who killed her brother and sets about breaking them in half, which is the whole plot and plenty. Cirio H. Santiago is the other essential Filipino exploitation director, and this is the line he and New World ran for a decade: American Black leads, Manila standing in for anywhere, kung fu choreographed by whoever was on hand. The centrepiece is a brawl Bell wins topless in a pitch-black room, lit just enough to tell who is hitting whom, and it is the reason anyone remembers the film.

Under 75 minutes, and not a wasted one.
