1990: The Bronx Warriors

Enzo Castellari does The Warriors on a Roman budget, with Fred Williamson in a cape. In a near-future New York where the Bronx has been abandoned to gangs, a runaway heiress hides among them while corporate mercenaries come to retrieve her, and the film is a gleeful patchwork of Escape from New York and The Warriors.

The gangs, roller-skating killers, tap-dancing enforcers, are ridiculous, the dubbing is terrible, and the whole thing has a scrappy, committed energy. Vic Morrow chews scenery as the villain.

Prime Italian post-apocalyptic trash, and one of the most fun of the cycle.
