Abby

The blaxploitation Exorcist. A minister's wife is possessed by a sex demon. Warner Bros sued.

A shameless blaxploitation riff on The Exorcist, in which the wife of a minister is possessed by a Nigerian sex spirit accidentally released by her archaeologist father-in-law, played by William Marshall of Blacula. She turns foul-mouthed and violent, and only an exorcism will save her.

Warner Bros sued for its obvious debt to The Exorcist and got it pulled, which has made it hard to see and burnished its cult reputation. It is cheap and derivative, but Marshall lends it dignity and the possession scenes have real energy. A notorious obscurity.
