Beyond the Door

The Italian Exorcist, made so quickly and copied so closely that Warner Bros sued and largely won. A pregnant San Francisco woman becomes possessed, her head spins, she vomits, and the film rides the wave of demonic panic with shameless energy. Juliet Mills does the heavy lifting under the makeup.

It is derivative and knows it, but the sheer nerve of the theft and a few nasty set pieces made it a huge hit. The dubbing and the split-pea imitation are their own entertainment.

The definitive Exorcist rip-off, and a monument to Italian opportunism.
