J.D.'s Revenge

A dead 1940s gangster possesses a mild law student. Blaxploitation crossed with the supernatural.

A blaxploitation horror crossover in which a mild-mannered New Orleans law student is possessed by the spirit of J.D. Walker, a razor-wielding gangster murdered in the 1940s, who uses the young man's body to settle his old scores. Glynn Turman is excellent, shifting between the two personalities.

It is more atmospheric and better acted than the genre average, with real New Orleans texture and a solid supernatural hook. One of the stronger blaxploitation horror films, and a good showcase for an underrated lead.
