Frontier(s)

Texas Chainsaw with a French accent and a swastika over the door.

The New French Extremity wave's most meat-and-potatoes entry. Four kids flee a riot-torn Paris and hole up at a countryside inn run by an inbred neo-Nazi clan with a basement and firm ideas about bloodline. Xavier Gens files the serial numbers off The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes and rebuilds them with more money and far more arterial spray. It arrived in the wave's blood-drenched 2007 and got overshadowed by Inside, which is a little unfair to a film this committed to its own abattoir. Not clever, extremely loud, and it hits every beat you turned up for.
