Romero's vampire film. A boy who needs blood, and no fangs, cape or certainty that he is one.
George Romero's favourite of his own films, and his most human. A withdrawn young man believes he is a vampire, decades old, but he has no fangs and uses razor blades and syringes, and the film never resolves whether he is undead or a disturbed boy in the grip of a family delusion. Set in a decaying Pennsylvania steel town.
It is a melancholy, ambiguous character study far removed from the zombie films, and one of Romero's finest works. Tom Savini plays a small role and did the low-key effects.
