Dr. Lamb

Simon Yam as the Rainy Night Butcher, fully off the leash. Cat III at its ugliest.

Hong Kong's Category III true-crime cycle at its grimmest, drawn from the real 1982 case of a Kowloon taxi driver who murdered women on wet nights, then photographed and dismembered them. Simon Yam, usually the coolest man in any room, throws all of that away to play the killer as a twitching, giggling wreck, while Danny Lee's cops sweat the confession out of him in flashback. It swings between straight police-procedural grind, nasty autopsy-table detail and bursts of crude comedy that sit very strangely next to the corpses. Tasteless by design and committed to it. Not the one to show your mother.
