Snapshot

A young model is stalked after a nude shoot. A slow-burn Australian thriller with a real sense of dread.

An Australian psychological thriller in which a naive young hairdresser is drawn into modelling, poses for a nude photograph, and finds herself stalked by an unseen figure, possibly connected to the shoot, possibly to her own chaotic life. It builds unease slowly, more interested in atmosphere and character than shocks.

Simon Wincer directs it with restraint, and the ordinary Melbourne suburbia gives it a grounded creepiness. Released internationally under the title The Day After Halloween to cash in on the slasher boom it barely resembles. A moody, patient entry in the Ozploitation cycle.
