People melt in primary colours. Tasteless, inventive, weirdly beautiful.
A cheap bottle of liquor called Viper melts anyone who drinks it, and the film follows the derelicts of a New York junkyard as they dissolve in eye-searing primary colours. It is tasteless, anarchic and weirdly beautiful, gross-out horror as pure downtown-80s attitude.
Beneath the melting-hobo gags is a grimy portrait of Reagan-era New York, and the effects, all neon slime, are inventive on no money. It offends deliberately and often.
Trash cinema that knows exactly what it is and commits totally.
